Basic Guitar Maintenance
Is your guitar not quite playing right? Maybe the frets are buzzing, or the higher frets sound way out of tune even though you have tuned the guitar 3 times? Chances are, all your guitar needs is a basic set-up, which, sometimes only with some minor adjustments, can completely change the playability and make it go from feeling like a £100 guitar to a £1000 guitar!

Perhaps you don't need a basic set-up, but you're unsure how to change a set of strings, I also offer string changes on its own.

So, what does a basic set up involve?
A basic set up includes:
-
Checking nut height
-
Adjusting truss rod
-
Adjusting intonation
-
Adjusting action (string height)
-
String change
-
Full clean
-
Adjustment of pickup height
There are a few things which are out of my area of expertise (mainly due to not having the tools available), but I am also able to diagnose a few things and point you in the right direction of someone who can. These things are replacing a guitar's nut, fret dress, fret replacement, electronics and repairing broken woodwork.

In addition to all this, I do offer string changes on their own, which is literally what it says on the label! I will give the guitar a full clean, and replace the strings with a brand/gauge of your choosing.
Below is an example of a lovely telecaster that came in for a basic set-up. The bridge actually had to be taken apart to access some of the parts in order to clean them, but it left looking and playing better than ever.
